Your equine photography experience is tailored to you and the connection you have with your horse. Horse photography is much more tricky in terms of logistics than dogs, so careful planning is essential to ensure the shoot runs smoothly. We will choose a suitable location and have a minimum of two hours to capture your horse enjoying the great outdoors.
The shoot itself is a relaxing and stress free experience. It is always a good idea to bring plenty of treats, Polo’s, pony nuts, anything that might catch their attention to get those ears forward. Action photography without a rider is always completed on the lunge rein for safety purposes and horses must have a minimum of a head collar and lead rope even when stationary. For more information on keeping your horse safe please contact me or check our standard safety requirements here.
As we are working outside we need to me mindful of the weather conditions. I keep an eye on the forecast up until the day of your shoot. If the weather isn’t suitable we will simply rearrange for another day.
Sensible clothing and footwear are advisable to avoid slips or injury and a head collar and rope are essential to keep your horses under control as and when necessary. Head collars tend to be quite bulky and tricky to remove in post production. I will bring one especially designed for photography which we can swap when the shoot begins.
The shoot is and should be a fun experience for everyone. If you are in anyway apprehensive about any aspects of your photo shoot please do give me a call.
